Questions about yachts from beginners – top 10

If you’ve never sailed before but want to give it a try, you probably have a whole bunch of questions about yachts, about what and how. Therefore, our article is just for you. We will briefly answer some of the frequently asked questions regarding yachting tourism.

  1. How much does it cost to ride a yacht?

If you look at a luxurious 40-meter superyacht, it might seem that yachting is entertainment only for the very wealthy ones. But things are not so simple. There are both expensive options and quite low-cost ones, for example, this spring cruise in Turkey for 7 days will cost only 790 € per person. The cost of the tour depends on many factors, here are the main ones:

  • type and size of the boat (the larger is your yacht the more expensive is its rental, catamarans are more expensive than yachts of the same length);
  • season of the year (seasonality);
  • country (the difference in the cost of a similar vessel in the same season is up to 30%);
  • the time when the tour is booked (early booking, up to 6 months, is more profitable), etc.

Therefore, if you want to try this type of vacation, you can pick up a fairly low-cost option.

  1. Where is the best place to sail on a yacht?

It is more appropriate to ask: “Where is the best place to go at this time of year?” In summer it is better to give preference to the Mediterranean Sea (Turkey, Greece, Croatia, Spain, Italy, France). In winter it is better to go to the Caribbean Sea or Thailand. Spring and autumn are mostly off-season. So you can choose all of the above. But the weather will not be the most suitable, although the cost of the cruise will also be considerably lower.

  1. Which yacht is the best?

The answer to this question depends on your preferences and priorities. Like action, sharp maneuvers, or the romantic atmosphere of sailing boats? it is better for you to choose a sailing yacht. Is your goal is to see as much as possible in the shortest amount of time? A fast powerboat is your best choice. Need more space, or can’t stand a boat dancing on waves? Consider a catamaran. And if you love luxury and are ready to pay for it, choose a superyacht.

  1. How many people will be there onboard?

The description of any vessel indicates how many people it can accommodate. Typically, small popular yachts can accommodate 8-12 people. Larger boats can accommodate more. In most cases, passengers are accommodated in double cabins. But sometimes there are other options available.

  1. Where do people sleep and eat? How do they go to the toilet on a yacht?

As we already mentioned, there are several cabins on a yacht. They are something like small hotel rooms. In most cases, each cabin has its own bathroom and shower. There is also a shared kitchen on board with built-in equipment. You can cook your meals right there. The water supply is sufficient for the entire cruise.

  1. Will I get seasick?

Questions about yachts from beginners definitely include the one about seasickness. Many people tend to experience seasickness symptoms to some extend. But do not get desperate. There are quite simple and effective methods of coping with those. Besides, your body can adapt to new conditions, and very often people get used to it.

  1. Is it safe on the high seas?

Like in any other transport, a yacht has its safety rules that must be followed. Besides, any yacht is equipped with various security systems. These are emergency communication systems, inflatable boats, life jackets, signal flares, etc. Even in a critical situation, when your boat sinks, a skipper can send an SOS signal and evacuate all passengers. Yachts seldom sail very far from the coast, so you shouldn’t worry about safety.

  1. What to do on a yacht on the high seas?

The tour program is made to offer you different options for entertainment, when a boat makes a transition between different locations. For example, you can take a master class on sailing from a skipper. While staying, you can go swimming, diving, or something else. In short, you will not be bored.

  1. How do you prepare for a cruise?

Any particular preparation is not required for a sea voyage. You do not need to learn anything. You just take the things you need on a voyage, like on a camping trip. If you are a beginner, you can feel free to go on a cruise and not worry about anything.

  1. What is included in the voyage price and what is paid separately?

This is largely an individual question, but some things will be the same for everyone. Thus, for example, you get a place in the cabin for the entire journey. Skipper services are also included in the price, like fuel for the boat. Parking in marinas, air travel to the destination place, and free entertainment program on land are paid separately.

So these are the most common questions about yachts from beginners. The main thing in a sea trip is your mood and desire to get new interesting emotions. Everything else is a matter of technology. Our experts will help you find the best offer for you, considering your wishes and requirements.
